Jubilee Half Crown?
Queen Victoria was crowned in 1837 at just 18 years of age. For the first 50 years of her reign the portrait on the coins was know as ‘The Young Head’ Showing a young queen with her hair up and ribbons over the top of her hair. This design was favoured by the monarch, but then everyone likes to look young!
After 50 years she allowed a new coin design to celebrate her Golden Jubilee. This design showed a much older monarch with a veil and very small crown. In fact it is reported that she hated this design. On the other side of the coin the design is stunning. It features a shield with the jubilee crown on the top with a garter round the edge. This is the side that will feature on the outside of the ring. This stunning silver ring looks beautiful polished and equally amazing with a patina finish. The dark patina really picks out the gorgeous details on this unusual coin.
